“Boulevard”  19.5 x 25.5 cm.  Coloured pencils on Arches Aquarelle smooth.

Bright lights and shadowy figures marching across the boulevard merge to create a lively kaleidoscope at Place Blanche.  This is the final drawing (I mean it this time) for the “Remember Paris” exhibition opening in five weeks’ time.

Dancing figures and dancing lights – that’s how I see this. A lovely way to complete the body of work for this show, full of joy (joie de vivre!) and happiness. Bravo! I think it will be a very good show, wish I could be there to see it in person.

I wish you could be here too, Anna. Funny I had no intention of drawing another for the exhibition but I was so up-to-date with the organization side of things that I needed something to do. So I took out this one that I had prepared months ago but never actually put colours on. The next thing I knew it was done plus it was saying, “Include me, include me” so of course I had to.

I am so impressed that your collection is completed 5 weeks before the exhibit! This is a beautiful “stop” for it, very fitting.

I do the same thing before every exhibition, finishing the drawings early. There is always so much to do with the lead up to a show – advertising, organizing publicity, contacting people, pricing, cataloguing, writing descriptions, writing media releases etc, that it is best if I don’t draw.
